It's my pleasure to welcome the Toronto Historical Bowling Society (THBS) as our newest member to OUTSPORT TORONTO. We had no trouble voting unanimously to accept THBS's applications at our directors meeting on the 15th of November, 2011.
The addition THBS brings the number of member organisations in OUTSPORT TORONTO to 21, with well over 3,000 (at last count) individual members in aggregate participating in amateur sport and recreation in the GTA. We started 2011 with 15 member organisations, and since January have welcomed Muddy York RFC, Toronto Sand Sharks Beach Volleyball, PWA's Friends for Life Bike Rally, Pink Turf Soccer, and the Toronto Gay Hockey Association in addition to THBS. We welcome dialogue with organisations that are not yet members to explore bringing them on-board as well. OUTSPORT TORONTO was created to, among other things, help break down the silos in which LGBT sport and recreation organisations often found themselves and to facilitate inter-organisational connection. We can do that best when all organisations are members.
So, on behalf of the board of OUTSPORT TORONTO, I extend a warm welcome to the THBS!
