I'd delighted to welcome Pink Turf Soccer League and the Toronto Gay Hockey Association as our latest new members to OutSport Toronto. We had no trouble voting unanimously to accept both applications at our directors meeting on the 17th.
With the addition of these two strong organisations, it brings the number of member organisations in OutSport Toronto to 20, with well over 2,500 individual members in aggregate participating in amateur sport and recreation in the GTA. We started out 2011 with 15 members, and since January have welcomed Muddy York RFC, Toronto Sand Sharks Beach Volleyball, and PWA's Friends for Life Bike Rally in addition to Pink Turf and TGHA. We will be continuing dialogue with those organisations that are not yet members, and hope to bring them on-board as well. OutSport Toronto was created to, among other things, help break down the silos in which LGBT sport and recreation organisations often found themselves and to facilitate inter-organisational connection. We can do that best when all organisations are members.
So, on behalf of the board of OutSport Toronto, I extend (in some cases rather overdue) a warm welcome to all our new members in 2011.
