I'm pleased to welcome Julian DiBattista to the Board of Directors of OUTSPORT TORONTO. Julian was appointed by a unanimous vote to the board, and is assuming the Community Outreach portfolio, where, among other things, he will be chairing the Pride and SportZone committee this year, working with James Scott, our Director for Membership and Member Services to mount an even better SportZone this year than our highly successful one in 2011. Julian's bio can be found on the Board o Read more...

I'm delighted to welcome the Toronto Gay Ski and Showboarding Club to OUTSPORT TORONTO as our 22nd member organisation! TGSSC was unanimously voted in as a member organisation at our 24 January 2012 board meeting.
We've also been receiving a good stream of renewal registrations for 2012, but not all yet. Please make sure that if your organisation hasn't sent its in yet, you do so as soon as possible. Organisations must renew their membership annually by completing the membership form found here, signing it, and sending it in per the instructions on the form. Please make sure you do so well in advance of the AGM, which we're scheduling for April 2012 this year, so you organisation's nominee can vote at the AGM.
So, on behalf of the board of OUTSPORT TORONTO, I extend a warm welcome to the TGSSC! Read more...

Smile well and often, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Two things happened yesterday that were an incredible contrast – a report in the Globe and Mail citing how Christian, Jewish, and Muslim representatives were speaking out against the new anti-bullying legislation as it pertained to LGBT students (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/despite-criticism-mcguinty-...), and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's landmark speech to the UN on LGBT rights (http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1857622883?bckey=AQ~~,AA... Yesterday was OUTSPORT TORONTO's second annual Scrum. We changed the format this year to be more comprehensive with sessions of presenters and panellists, all aligned with either general promotion of sport and healthy living to the broader LGBT community (what we called the "Participants' Track"), or with learning and mentoring each other to strengthen our individual organisations' abilities and sustainabilities (the "Organisers' Track"). With some 50 participants during the day sessions this year a Read more...
