Last Monday, December 2nd, The 519 hosted an information session regarding its proposed Sports & Recreation Centre. During our "afternoon debrief" at the Saturday portion of the 2012 Scrum, I took a moment to quietly survey the crowd of engaged, talkative, thoughtful participants, and something struck me - there were a lot of new faces in the crowd! Through nominee meetings, annual general meetings, and Pride preparations, you start to see "the usual suspects" over time. It's always great to see a friendly familiar face, but I am incredibly encouraged by the newly engaged LGBT sport and rec supporters who took a step from good to great by participating in the 2012 Scrum. What a positive news story! OUTSport Toronto would like to extend its support to David Testo, and congratulate him on his decision to publically declare himself as a professional LGBT athlete
David TestoWhile we still await North America’s first active out professional athlete, it is very interesting to note that Mr. Testo was out to his teammates, and you have to think the “liberation” provided by that honesty contributed to the performances that led to his team MVP award in 2009.

G20 Summit...The World Economic Forum @ Davos...OutSport Fall Scrum?

My favourite day of the 2010 Summer last year was without a doubt Sunday, July 4th - the day of the Pride Parade.
I had been to a couple of parades as a spectator, and always had a good time, but it was just one of several fun things to do in the city during the summer. This year was different. As apart of the newly formed Toronto Gay Football League, we pulled together a small group of people to march in the parade and bring awareness to the league. Read more...
